Today I will complete my final requirement for commission certification. I will need to fit a coworker on the Vector Pro. I have used the machine for a couple of months and understand how it works. The only thing I will be concerned with is if they try to trick me up.
Challenges in life are one of the best reasons for living. It builds character and creates that emotional fire that keeps us going.

Milestone
The main job for a sales caddy is to help customers understand the products and help them when deciding what they need to improve their game. We do this by asking questions and showing them the products in our hitting bays. In this demo area they can see the results of the clubs with a Vector launch monitor.
After working about 6 weeks I took the club foundations and several other tests to show that I know enough about the products and general club fitting to become certified. Certification includes the ability to earn commissions when selling products. Yesterday I completed all the tests and will be commission eligible in a few days. I don't really know what the rates are but it will add something to my paycheck.

First day
Today I worked 8.5 hours at Golfsmith. It was a busy Sunday right from the start. I was suppose to shadow and watch two long time Sales Caddies. They showed me a few things and gave me a tour of the stock room :-)
I helped with a few sales and overall assisted in about $1000 dollars of merchandise. Not bad for a first day.
I really enjoyed helping the guests with their golf purchases.

You're Hired
On Friday I was officially hired as a sale caddy at Golfsmith in Bridgewater. I will start my training this week. This is a part-time position that I am very excited to do. It gets me out of the house and I get to talk to golfers about golf clubs and will help them decide which clubs are best for their games. I will also make some money and earn commissions. So, if you need some clubs, stop by the Golfsmith in Bridgewater, ask for Scott.

Phase 1 accomplished
I was told verbally that I have the job at a major golf retailer. I am waiting for the offer. I also tracked down a gentlemen about another position who works for a major golf club manufacturer. They may need an additional person to work as a demo day technician. This one could be categorized as a dream job, at least a foot in the door dream job.

Interview
I scheduled my first golf job interview today. It is at a retail golf shop. The position is sales. I would like to gain some experience with golf sales and this would be a good break-in position. The interview is on Wednesday, wish me luck

Time for a career change
I have been in the software sales business for 12 years and was recently set free. I am strongly considering a career change. I am passionate and love the game of golf and can see myself in a role in the golf industry. Since my background is sales, I think a great place to start is in golf sales. I have applied for a couple of sales positions. I know quite a bit about the game, equipment, courses and would be a talented asset to a medium to large golf company or golf travel agency. I am an accomplished amateur with a 9 handicap. My strong part of my game is off the tee and putting. I need to get mor GIR and U/D to get the handicap down. I plan to play in tournaments this summer to add to my competitive nature. I look forward to a great golf season.
Play well,
Scott
